
For the second year in a row in 2025, San Diego County Spinners earned 1st place beating their 2024 record of 7 hours, 16 minutes and 49 seconds by about 4 minutes with a new time of 7 hours, 12 minutes and 5 seconds!
The Back to Back wool challenge is an annual event promoting Wool World Wide & Fund Raising for Cancer Research with teams competing internatinoally to shear, spin, and knit a sweater in one day and fundraise for a local cancer research/support nonprofit.
Each team consists of a blade shearer, a country-of-origin sheep and seven hand spinners (with spinning wheels) and knitters who follow the identical challenge rules and pattern to knit the adult size jumper.
This year's event will be held Saturday May 16th in conjunction with the San Diego Craft Collective's Fiber Festival located in Liberty Station beginning with shearing at 9:00 am See https://sandiegocraft.org/fiber-fest/ for more info and to save the date!
